Common Name : Ciku
Botanical Name : Manilkara zapota
Ciku plant was said to be orginated from South
America. It produce rubbery milky sap which was used to manufacture
of chewing gum in Central America.
Today ciku tree are grown all over Asia. The
fruits are oval in shape with thin dull brown skin. When riped
the ciku fruit is soft and chestnut brown, soft, granular and
sweet with a very plasent flavour. The seeds are shiny hard
embedded in a single slit-like cavity.
Uses, the ciku fruits can be only eaten when riped. Unriped
fruit will taste sappy.
