Chinese Pork Chops:
Chinese style pork chops a popular cut of meat in the West.
(East meet West) The marinade has a nice balance of sweetness
from the sugar, aromatic spice from the Chinese five-spice powder,
white pepper and nutty richness from the sesame oil. This dish
can be a meal by itself.
Ingredients :
4 pork chops, about inch thick, pounded
2 tablespoons chicken stock
1/4 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons sugar lightly
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1 tablespoons cooking oil teaspoon white pepper
1 cup thinly sliced onion
3 green onions, sliced
Method :
To make the marinade by combining the chicken stock, sugar,
soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of the sesame oil, white pepper, and five-spice
powder in a bowl.Mix well with a fork until all the lumps break
down. Add the pork chops and turn to coat. Let stand for 10
minutes.
Place a wok over high heat until hot. Add the cooking oil,
swirling to coat the sides. Remove the pork chops from the marinade
and place in the wok. Cook, covered, until the meat is no longer
pink, about 3 minutes per side. Remove and place on a serving
platter.
Add the onion to the pan and cook, stirring until the onion
is soft, about 3 minutes. Add the green onions and the remaining
1 teaspoon sesame oil. Serve onions over the pork chops.
