Bean sprout are grown from mung beans from a bean
sprouter grower. The mung seed will grow to a narrow, green
or brownish pods bear short
hairs and contain green or gold seeds. This will be harvested
in 4 days.
Sold in many Asian markets or supermarket. Choose sprout that
are white with golden yellow tops. Any browning of the stem
are no good. Best buy the amount need for the recipes as they
spoil easily.
Used in stir-fried, in noodle soup or stir-fried noodle, garnish.
Here is an easy recipe for stir-fried bean sprout with garlic.
Two hands full of bean sprout with roots picked, 2 tablespoon
of chop garlic, a little cooking oil, salt and light soya sauce
to taste and a dash of pepper.
Heat oil in wok,
add garlic stir-fried till fragrant than add bean sprout. Stir-fried
for about 3 min. add salt and light soya-sauce and pepper, mixed
well and serve.
Store balance bean sprout in fridge for max 3 days.
