How's my vegetarian nutrition doing?
I have recently gone vegetarian, and want to run by my daily menu and get your feedback as to if it sounds like I'm getting enough nutrients. I feel awesome, but I just would like some added reassurance. I have also started taking a multi vitamin.Breakfast oatmeal made w soy milk, banana, and cup of applesauce w herbal teaLunch either a Smart Dog, organic peanut butter sandwich on wheat, or boca burger w soy cheese and usually more applesauce, baby carrotsSnacks Usually triscuits, and or mixed nutsDinner stir fry made w extra firm tofu, whole grain pasta, something along those linesI also drink 16oz of OJ a day, and lots of water, so overall how am I doing?I snack in the evening's too, more baby carrots, triscuits, nuts, or some all natural chips that are cholesterol free, and are made in sunflower oil.Oh and all you non vegetarians can just refrain from the whole " you need meat" speech, I'm not gonna eat it o.k.?ok good to know about the soy. What are some other good ways to make sure I'm getting enough protein.

When people make blatantly false claims about vegetarian nutrition, is it possible for them to be banned?
There are a lot of myths that people continue to perpetuate on here, such as the idea that vegetarians need to worry about getting " enough" protein, combining protein, getting " enough" calcium, etc. I'm wondering if I would be justified in reporting them when I see them?Don't get me wrong. I realize that most of these people aren't trolls. They probably really believe the nonsense they're spewing, and when it comes right down to it, their opinion is as valid as that of anyone else.But nutrition science or any science is not an opinion. We may not know everything about everything see phytochemicals , but at this point, when it comes to vitamins and minerals, generally something is either true or it isn't. And it simply isn't true that plants lack protein, calcium, iron, or even zinc. The ONLY thing plants lack is vitamin B12, which vegans will need a supplement for.It's not that this bothers me personally. If I was the only one who ever read their answers, people could say plants lack carbohydrates for all I care. But I'm not. A lot of potential vegetarians most likely come on here and are turned off after hearing that they'll have to carefully combine proteins, eat dairy for calcium, and take supplements for iron, zinc, and essential fatty acids.These people, through no fault of their own because again, they themselves have been misinformed , are essentially convincing people that is is dangerous to abstain from dead animals.So, to restate my question, Am I justified in reporting these people, or is Yahoo Answers strictly pro pseudoscience?

What is a good basic vegetarian nutrition/diet book?
I am vegetarian and have been for just about two years, so I do not need stuff about " how to be vegetarian" or... " why you should be vegetarian." I am looking more for information about what kinds of foods a person should be eating, but tailored to a vegetarian. Like grams of protein, where to get that protein, and same for carbohydrates, the different kinds of carbs, etc. etc. Just a basic informational book about nutrition and what kinds of foods to eat but one that keeps in consideration that I don't eat fish, or chicken broth, or pork chops, haha.I would prefer if the book was really recent last 5 or so years and available for purchase online.

Teen Vegetarian Nutrition?
I am fifteen and have been a vegetarian for about 2 years. I need to start eating healthier so I decided to start taking vitamins. I eat a lot of carbs, fruit, and nuts. I know that nuts are a source of protein but they are not complete proteins. Is there such thing as a vitamin that will give me the protein I lack in? Or a specific name of a vegetarian multi vitamin that will also help me lose weight?

Vegetarian nutrition advice?
I have been a vegetarian for a little over a year. I've been anemic most of my life and lately i have been getting lightheaded and having trouble breathing. I'm not sure if it's the iron I'm lacking or if it's something different all together. I've been experimenting with different soy products fake burgers and chicken, soy cheese, silk, and soy protein drink shakes all of which have given me pretty bad stomach pains.I eat a lot of whole grain pasta and rice, lots of fruits and vegetables, nuts and whole grain bread. I also take a multi vitamin.Can anyone give me any advice on what foods i should be eating and or supplements that could help me to be more healthy?Thank you

Vegetarian nutrition/protien questions!? ?
Well, I've been a vegetarian for about, 1 year and 5 months. After about a year, I went to eatting chicken once a month.For acouple months now, my fingers are a light red purple color, and when I push on them, it leaves while marks for a second, then they fade away. My whole body has a kind of, flush pale look. I feel fine, but I think its because of the way I eat, which is pretty poorly. Any suggestions for a good sorce of protien and nutrition other than eatting meat of course.Thank you

Vegetarian Nutrition?
I have been a vegetarian for 7 years, and I try to eat healthily, but now that I am at college it is really hard because very few healthy choices are offered. Because of this I have been taking multi vitamins. I take two of the Centrum for kids since I can't swallow pills . I am worried about the iron. 18 mg is the kid and adult dose, so I am not sure I should be taking 36. However, I don't have a very good source of iron here, except for tofu which i eat probably 3 4 days a week . do you think this is okay?

Do you keep track of what you eat and how much protein is in it...or do you just think...meh...i'm still breathing..i'm good.I take a multivitamin everyday, and make sure I get in at least 35 g of fibre a day. I watch my sodium intake, and make sure I drink 3L of water a day.What are your nutrition quirks? If any?
